Self-discovery in a time of uncertainty

Dear Ms Anonymous,

How are you? I hope you are doing okay during this time of uncertainty. The truth is, we’re all struggling right now. And we don’t know when we’ll be able to get back to normal.

If anyone had told me that 2020 would be a year of uncertainty – I would have told them flat out that they were wrong. How could 2020 be about uncertainty? I thought, as many of you also did, that we would have clearer vision this year. That we would start the new year with resolutions and goals. Instead, we started with bad news that seems to be getting worse.

The most important thing to do in a time of uncertain is focus on your own self-discovery. Now is the time to think about your goals and dreams.

What’s causing our uncertainty?

Well, there are a lot of things causing our uncertainty right now. Some of you may have contracted a virus, You don’t even know how you got it, or when you will get rid of it.

Some of us have gotten laid off, or had our hours changed, unsure of where our next paychecks will come from.

We are worried about our families, our kids, our friends, and ourselves. And there’s no end in sight to getting our lives back to normal. These are truly hard times.

What should we do now?

If you have lost your job or source of income, I’m sorry. I really hope that things go back to normal very soon, and you are able to get your job back or find a new one.

During times of uncertainty, perhaps we should use our time to rediscover our true selves. To spend time thinking about our passions, and writing down our goals.

If you’re like me, then you’ve probably found yourself with a lot of extra time right now. Or at least a few hours a week where you used to have play dates, or go shopping at Target.

Those hours you can now spend working on figuring out what’s next in your life! We no longer have the excuse that we “don’t have time.” Right now- time is one commodity that we do have. And we should dare not waste it.

So, this week – spend 30 minutes dreaming about what comes next in your life. Think about the changes you would make if you didn’t have to go back to the same job you hate (but you miss now, because of the paycheck).

Consider what you would want to learn if you went back to school. Dream about the type of business you would create if you could start over. Make a list of the things you want to accomplish in your life.

You probably have a lot of ideas floating around in your head right now. Dream big – and at least get them down on paper! And every day, dream a little bit more.

Sadly, there are a lot of people losing their lives right now from this virus. And the thought makes me physically sick. I can’t help but think about the fact that I’m alive right now. And if I make it through this time of uncertainty, what I know for sure is that I’m going to live my life to the fullest. The life that I want to have, not the one others think I should have.

I’m using this time to write down my biggest dreams and goals. Then I’m learning about the action steps I have to take in order to make those a reality, in my very near future. Because I don’t want to have any regrets about living my life in someone else’s shadow. And I don’t want to continue to tell myself excuses like “I don’t have time” or “I don’t know how”. If I want to learn how to do something, then I spend my time doing research. I don’t sit in the narrative that everyone else can succeed, but me.

I identify where my problem is. Then challenge my assumptions with my truth.  And I choose to change my reality!

By using my identify, challenge, change strategy, I’m able to refocus my energy on what I can do to reach my goal. When you learn to change your mindset, you start to believe that anything is possible.

Getting started during uncertainty

If you’re having trouble getting started, I’m here to help you. Now is a great time for self-discovery. It’s time for you to learn who you want to become, when this is all over. Perhaps you want to go back to your regular life. I want to do that too. But I don’t want to go back to the same limiting beliefs I had before this time of uncertainty began.

I’m going to be using this time of uncertainty to get 20/20 vision about my future. Don’t you want to do the same?

With love,

P.S. – If you’re ready to get crystal clear about your future, I’m here to help. Schedule a clarity call today. I want to help you figure out what’s next, instead of dwelling on what now.

P.S.S. – Share this post on social media because there are so many people who need a little motivation right now to get started. Together we can spark massive transformation and have uncertainty become a thing of the past.
